Praise Him above, you heavenly host;
Praise Father, Son and Holy Ghost

STORY:  John 11:1-44

Discussion Questions
1. Why were Mary and Martha upset? (Their brother Lazarus was dying.)
2. Why did Mary and Martha send someone to find Jesus? (Jesus could heal their brother.)
3. Why didn't Jesus rush back to heal His friend Lazarus who was about to die? (Jesus knew He had the power over life and death.)
4. How long had Lazarus been dead by the time Jesus arrived? (Four days.)
5. What was covering the entrance to the tomb? (A large stone.)
6. What happened when Jesus called out in a loud voice, "Lazarus come out!" (Lazarus came out of the tomb.)

Raising Lazarus Game
Divide the kids into groups of four.  Assign one to be Jesus, one to be Lazarus and the remaining two to be Mary and Martha.  Mary and Martha will wrap Lazarus with toilet paper (preparing him for burial) into a mummy.  Have the groups race to see who can do this the fastest.  When each Lazarus has been mummified then it is time for round two.  In round two Jesus unwraps Lazarus (brings him to life).

The Doxology
Praise God from whom all blessings flow,
Praise Him, all creatures here below;
Praise Him above, you heavenly host;

The story of Noah and the Ark spans from Genesis 6 through 9. It is too much to read to the children, so we will use a 20 minute video to tell the story.

Discussion Questions
1. What did God tell Noah to do? (Build an ark.)
2. Why did God tell Noah to build and ark? (To protect his family and the animals from the flood)

3.  What did the other people do or say when they found out Noah was building an ark?  (They laughed at Noah and ignored God's promise of a flood.)
3. How many of each kind of animal came into the ark? (Two.)
5. How long did it rain? (40 days)
6. What kind of bird brought back a sign of dry land? (A dove)
7. What did God put in the sky to remind us that we can always trust God's promises?  (A rainbow)

CRAFT
Print copies of Part 1 and Part 2 before class.

PREPARATION
  1. Cut out the Ark. Cut along the dotted lines of the Ark's door so that the door can open and close.
  2. Using A hole-puncher, punch out the two black circles on the top of the door.
  3. Glue the ark to a piece of construction paper using the glue stick. (Be careful not to glue the door shut.)
  4. Cut the animals out from the Animals printout or if you like.
  5. Cut 2 pieces of yarn approximately 7 or 8 inches long.

ASSEMBLY
  1. Color the sides and roof of their Ark.
  2. Paste the animals in the opening of the Ark's door.
  3. Thread the yarn through one of the holes in the Ark's door.
  4. Tape one end of the yarn to the door. Tape the other end of the yarn to the side of the ark, just beyond the opening of the door. Repeat for the other side of the door.

David and Goliath

TOPIC:
Through the familiar story of David and Goliath retold by the VeggieTales, the children learn that God is more powerful than even our most fearful enemies.
OPENING MUSIC:
The Doxology
Praise God from whom all blessings flow,
Praise Him, all creatures here below;
Praise Him above, you heavenly host;
Praise Father, Son and Holy Ghost

STORY:
Goliath was a giant soldier and enemy to David and the army of Israel. He bragged that he could beat any Israelite soldier who would fight him. All of the Israelite soldiers were too scared to fight him. David was a young shepherd boy who believed in God. He said, "I will fight Goliath. The Lord will help me beat him." As David went to fight Goliath he only had a sling. He stopped at a brook along the way and picked up five small, smooth stones. Goliath laughed when he saw a boy coming out to fight him. But David took a stone, put it in his sling, swung it round and round and let it fly straight at Goliath. It hit the giant smack in the middle of his forehead and knocked him down with a mighty crash. David ran over, took Goliath's own sword and killed him.

When Jesus went to the cross He fought an even bigger giant for us- He fought the devil. When Jesus died on the cross He crushed the devil's head- and rose to life again on the third day. Since Jesus beat the devil, we are free.

Discussion Questions
1. What was the giant's name in today's story? (Goliath.)
2. Why were all the men afraid to fight Goliath? (He was a giant.)
3. Who protected David when he fought Goliath? (God.)
5. Could David have defeated the giant on his own, without God's help and protection? (No.)
6. Who was mightier and more powerful, Goliath or God? (God.)
7. God protects those who love and follow Him. Can you name some ways in which we could show God that we love and follow Him? (Prayer, sing songs to Him, have our parents read the Bible to us, thank Him for the talents He gives us.)

GAME:  Pin The Rock On Goliath
Just like pin the tail on the donkey, only with a picture of the giant pickle from the VeggieTales movie, and rounded pieces of gray construction paper as the rocks.
